A verification-gated lane for life sciences research

Anthropic's Life Sciences Verification Program is built around an explicit trade-off it states itself: the classifiers that generally available Fable models apply are too conservative for a wide range of legitimate biology work, so rather than loosen them for everyone, Anthropic is opening a narrower, vetted path. Applicants go through a review of their research credentials, security standards and ethical research oversight before being granted either a "Standard Use" grant — covering most day-to-day R&D, manufacturing, clinical development, regulatory and diligence work across a whole team, renewed yearly — or a more tightly scoped "High-risk Use" grant for work Anthropic judges carries a higher potential for misuse. The program launches in beta for teams and institutions rather than individuals; dozens of organizations have already been onboarded through an early-access phase, and Anthropic says individual Pro and Max access will follow later. Approved access applies to Mythos 5.1, Opus 5 and Sonnet 5 today, extending automatically to future models, and works across Claude Science, Claude.ai, Claude Code and the API.

Parallel builds for finance and enterprise compliance

The same day, Anthropic published a piece on Claude for Financial Advisors, its dedicated product for the wealth-management sector, and expanded the Compliance API: local session endpoints now also return transcripts of Claude-in-Chrome sessions (tagged with the product_surface value claude_in_chrome), in beta for Claude Enterprise organizations that already hold a Compliance Access Key with the read:compliance_user_data scope. Together with a separate item on "Claude Camp for Customers," the cluster points to Anthropic building out both the product surfaces and the oversight tooling regulated customers need in the same release window.

The financial-advisor rollout left a visible trace in Claude Code itself: version 2.1.276 fixed a regression introduced one release earlier, in 2.1.275, where every request failed with a 400 error citing an unrecognized "advisor_20260301" input tag whenever ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL pointed at a proxy or gateway. In other words, a new schema tag tied to the financial-advisor product surface wasn't recognized by strict validation on gateway-routed traffic, breaking any proxied Claude Code session until Anthropic shipped the fix the same day.

Claude Code's rapid-fire gateway and reliability patches

Between 2.1.273 and 2.1.275, Claude Code added a cluster of changes aimed at enterprise gateway deployments: opt-in request headers (x-claude-code-request-class, x-claude-code-agent-type and related fields) that expose tool-duration and compaction state to LLM gateways; a notification when an MCP server disconnects mid-session and automatic reconnection gives up; the ability to fork a session started via remote control into a background local session; a bound on how long the first non-interactive turn waits for MCP servers to connect; an "effort" attribute added to OpenTelemetry trace spans; account confirmation during gateway sign-in before a credential is saved; a send-now key to interrupt a turn and flush queued messages; and a startup warning when a configured otelHeadersHelper fails silently.

The concentration of four patch releases in quick succession, capped by the same-day fix for the financial-advisor schema regression, points to the same underlying focus: hardening the proxy and gateway path that enterprise deployments depend on, and making failures in that path visible rather than silent.
