Cosine similarity
Definition: Cosine similarity measures how much two vectors point in the same direction: close to 1, they are very similar; close to 0, unrelated.
It is the most common measure to compare embeddings in semantic search and RAG. It ignores vector length and keeps only their orientation, hence their meaning.
