Claude Code's Release Cadence Continues

Anthropic shipped two more point releases of Claude Code. Version 2.1.245 fixes a startup crash affecting Linux distributions that ship glibc 2.44, including Arch Linux, CachyOS, and Fedora Rawhide. The preceding 2.1.239 release focused on transparency and platform parity: cost estimates surfaced in /cost, the status line, and the --max-budget-usd flag now factor in the 1.1x premium charged for US-only inference on data-residency workspaces, so projections match what residency-restricted customers actually pay. A Brief Multi-Model Error Spike

status.claude.com logged and closed out an incident of elevated error rates on requests to several Claude models, naming Mythos 5, Fable 5, and Opus 5 among those affected. Anthropic's status update said the cause had been identified and a fix was in progress, with further updates promised; the incident is now marked resolved. Safety Disclosures: Biosecurity, Risk Reporting, and Watermarking

Anthropic published an August 2026 Risk Report, released in redacted form, alongside a separate note on hardening Fable 5's biology safeguards — the company's mitigations against misuse of the model in biological-weapons-relevant domains.
